The purpose of instructional sessions is to help you and your partner feel more comfortable and confident during the birthing process and after you take your baby home. Classes meet on the MHP campus in Oskaloosa in the Education Center, located on the first floor of the hospital (use entrance #2).

Prenatal and Lamaze – Prenatal care, labor, delivery, postpartum and baby care are discussed. Breathing exercises and Lamaze are practiced and participants are given a tour of the Birthing Center. Classes meet on scheduled Wednesdays from 7 to 9 p.m.

Prenatal and Lamaze Weekend – The Prenatal and Lamaze class is condensed into a one day session, please bring a watch with a second hand. Classes meet on scheduled Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with time to leave for lunch.

Breastfeeding – Tips and techniques for breastfeeding are reviewed as well as how to prevent, recognize and manage potential difficulties. Classes meet on scheduled Sundays from 1 to 4 p.m.
