Inpatient Geriatric Psychiatry at MHP is a unique service dedicated to caring for patients age 60 and older who have been diagnosed with dementia, depression, bipolar disorder or other mental and behavioral health diagnosis.

The only service of its kind in Southeast Iowa, patients usually stay 10 to 14 days; during which time a personalized care plan can be developed for them. Patients and their family will receive education on their diagnosis and treatment plan. Staff can also assist families with finding permanent placement if needed.
