2nd Annual "Run in the Sun"

MHP Foundation sponsor’s 2nd Annual “Run in the Sun”

The Mahaska Health Partnership Foundation will host the 2nd Annual “Run in the Sun,” on Saturday, July 28 at the Lacey Sports Complex.

Run in the Sun is a 5K for runners and 1-mile Walk for all ages, abilities and even strollers. Race day registration begins at 7:30 a.m., and the race will start at 8:30 am. It begins and ends at the Lacey Sports Complex.

According to MHP Development Director Cathy Stahl, those wanting to participate are encouraged to register online at www.mahaskahealth.org. “The registration deadline is July 9 to guarantee an event T-shirt,” Stahl said. “Participants will find this to be a well-run event and we’re able to provide results very quickly thanks to electronic chip timing.”

For runners, medals will be awarded for the top three male and female finishers in the following age categories: 14 and under, 15 to 18, 19 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 59 and 60 and over. All walk participants will receive a ribbon.

Registration for either event is $25 per person. Each participant will receive a commemorative cotton T-shirt as long as registration is received by Monday, July 9. All proceeds from the 2012 event will benefit the MHP Hospice Serenity House.

The Serenity House will be celebrating its two year anniversary in July. Families who have utilized the house in the past year are invited to a special ceremony at the beginning of the event.
