Approximately 1 in 22 men and 1 in 24 women will be diagnosed with Colorectal Cancer in their lifetime, according to the American Cancer Society. Colorectal Cancer (CRC) is a cancer in the colon or rectum that usually begins as a noncancerous growth called a polyp that can eventually turn cancerous after several years. Prenatal Classes

Patients delivering at Mahaska Health Partnership are welcome to attend as many prenatal classes as they wish, free of charge. It’s just one of the ways we hope to help you and your partner feel more confident and comfortable as you embark on this new beginning.

Since we recognize that each family’s needs are different, we offer classes on request, in addition to our regular classes. Regular classes include Childbirth (covering prenatal care, labor, delivery, postpartum and baby care) and Breastfeeding. Additional classes available upon request include Sibling Class and a Lamaze Refresher Course. All classes are available on the MHP campus.

These classes are offered at various times throughout the year. Click “register” for upcoming dates.

Childbirth Class  Participants learn prenatal care, labor, delivery, postpartum and baby care. Includes dinner and a tour of our new Birthing Center! Classes meet for two evenings from 5:30 to 8:00pm.

Breastfeeding Class Taught by MHP's Board Certified Lactation Counselor, this class is a must for anyone considering breastfeeding. Tips and techniques for breastfeeding are reviewed as well as how to prevent, recognize and manage possible difficulties. Classes are held on Tuesday evenings from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. Dinner is provided.

Siblings Class  Sibling classes are held Sunday afternoons from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., scheduled for March and September 2018.

Additional Classes Upon Request – We offer additional educational opportunities on an 'as needed' basis, since we recognize that each family has different circumstances. These sessions last approximately one hour each.
