Oh my Heart!

With a new little one, the tests, forms and information are abundant. Family Practice with Obstetrics Physician Dr. Shawn Richmond knows this all too well! One test that all of his little patients receive is a pulse oximetry to measure the amount of oxygen in the blood. Sounds big but it’s actually quite small. The test uses little sticky monitors (think of a band-aid), that are applied to a baby’s foot and hand. Don’t worry, this test is totally painless, but provides insight on their health, often before any signs and symptoms could be noticed. Pretty neat huh?

Shake Those Hips!

When it comes to your body, aches and pains can really throw you for a loop! One common complaint is hip, knee and shoulder pain, at least in MHP Orthopaedic Surgeon Sreedhar Somisetty, MD’s, office! Hospice Support Groups

Loss hurts, not only emotionally but physically, too. No matter how hard times get, you know you can always count on your family at Mahaska Health Partnership.

MHP Hospice Services provides you with different support groups that will assist you in the process of grieving the loss of a loved one. Each group has been developed to meet different needs. Whether you are seeking a place of fellowship and sharing or want to create a lasting memory to honor a loved one, a unique and fitting support group is available to you.

Here’s what we offer:

Coffee and Conversation – Not sure if a support group is right for you or just need to talk? Stop by to enjoy a free cup of coffee and the company of others dealing with grief. This group meets on the first Tuesday of every month from 9:30 - 10:30 am in the MHP Hospice Serenity House Conference Room.

Adult Support Group – Are you grieving and looking for assistance to help work thorugh your pain? This six-week course provides information and activities for adults who are grieving the loss of a loved one. This group meets periodically; call 641.672.3260 for information on upcoming meetings.
