"Welcome to Medicare"

Mahaska Health Partnership Hosts Free "Welcome to Medicare" Seminar on Aug. 7

Are you going to be eligible for Medicare in the near future? Have you been on Medicare for awhile and want to better understand what it offers? If so, “Welcome to Medicare” can help you.

This free, two-hour seminar is being offered by the State of Iowa’s Senior Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP) and Mahaska Health Partnership to Iowans who want to learn more about Medicare. It is set for Wednesday, Aug. 7 from 6:30 – 8:30 pm in the Cedar Bluff Learning Center, entrance #3, on the MHP campus.

“This seminar is a great resource for the community,” said SHIIP Volunteer Counselor JoAnn Schefers, a retired MHP employee who worked in Patient Accounts. “Medicare is such an important program, yet many do not fully understand what it offers.”

“Welcome to Medicare” will cover Medicare Part A and Part B benefits, the prescription drug benefit (Part D), Medicare Advantage plans and Medicare supplement insurance. “This seminar will offer information to help assure that anyone eligible for Medicare gets the health benefits they deserve,” Schefers commented.

SHIIP is a service of the State of Iowa. SHIIP Counselors are trained by the state and do not sell or promote any insurance companies, policies or agents. MHP is a local sponsor of SHIIP in Mahaska County.

To register for “Welcome to Medicare,” please call 641.672.3342 by July 31, 2013. The seminar is free, but registration is required. Light refreshments will be served.
