Akhtar Ashraf, MD

Akhtar Ashraf, MD, has been  practicing radiology at MHP since 1990. He consistently makes healthcare personal for his patients, even inviting them to see their images as he provides them step by step instructions about how their procedure will be performed.

Dr. Ashraf’s passion lies in education. He completed a Fellowship in CT and Ultrasound at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California and was then the Head of the Department of CT and Ultrasound at the University of Missouri Kansas City School of Medicine. He also served as Director of the Ultrasonography School and Assistant Professor of Radiology at the University of Missouri Kansas City School of Medicine.

Dr. Ashraf’s primary practice is in Ottumwa, however, he visits MHP every weekday morning and he or one his two colleagues is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week through the PACS system, a tool that allows physicians to view images from their home or office computer and provide consultation when needed.
