Dr. Akhtar Ashraf is the Staff Attending Radiologist at Radiology Associates of Ottumwa, P.C. Before joining Mahaska Health Partnership in 1990, he was an Assistant Professor of Radiology at the University of Missouri, Kansas City School of Medicine and Clinical Assistant Professor of Radiology at Des Moines University, Des Moines, Iowa.
Family Nurse Practitioner Chris Beaird is particularly interested in treating families and providing care for acute diagnoses. She has experience in critical care, cardiac, surgery and medical/surgical settings.
Podiatrist Mark Beers, DPM, practices full time in the MHP Medical Group. He has been caring for feet in the Oskaloosa area for more than 25 years (said 20 in 2011, okay to say?). Dr. Beers partners closely with the Certified Diabetes Education and Wound Ostomy Care professionals, providing an all-encompassing approach to foot health. In his spare time, Dr. Beers enjoys spending time outdoors fishing, hunting and trap shooting.
Bryon Bellinger, ARNP-C, is a Hospitalist at Mahaska Health Partnership. He enjoys providing care to patients over a longer period of time and participating in their final diagnosis during their stay in Inpatient. Bryon believes hospital medicine benefits patients because providers are able to solely focus on people admitted to the hospital, spending more time with them and applying holistic principles to their care.
Dr. Berges served in a consulting role at MHP from 2004 - 2011, before re-locating to Littleton, Colorado. He decided to return to Iowa and join MHP in order to be closer to his family. Dr. Berges provides medical oversight for mental health services offered in Behavioral Health Services and Inpatient Geriatric Psychiatry.
Dr. Valerie Bonnett is a Family Practice Physician who brings a unique perspective to primary care and women's health issues. She enjoys working with women of all ages, and has specialized skills to help women from reproductive age through menopause. Dr. Bonnett likes to work with her patients to determine the root cause of issues and looks for natural remedies that work in conjunction with traditional pharmaceuticals.
Dr. Boyum is a Psychiatrist treating patients in MHP’s Behavioral Health Services and Inpatient Geriatric Psychiatry. He sees patients of all ages, but has a special interest in children and adolescents. Dr. Boyum appreciates when he can help a patient work through transitions in their life.
General Surgeon Tim Breon, MD, FACS, is an experienced, Board Certified Surgeon specializing in traditional, laparoscopic and robotic-assisted surgical treatments. Dr. Breon commonly performs operations on the colon as well as the gallbladder, female anatomy and appendix. Dr. Breon grew up on a farm near Hedrick, Iowa. He chose to practice at MHP to ensure advanced surgical care, focused on the whole body, is available to all patients in need of routine or emergent intervention.
