Family Practice and Obstetrics Physician Angela Godejohn, MD, loves helping to safely bring new life into the world while supporting the healthcare needs of women during different stages of change. She has served with the Navy all over the world but chose to settle in the midwest because she appreciates small town living and the relationships she gets to have with her patients.
For Dr. Edward Hirl, one of the most rewarding aspects of his careers is helping patients grow their families. Dr. Hirl enjoys doing well child exams, minor office surgery and acute diagnoses treatment.
Tonya Johannes, DNP, ARNP-BC has been a nurse practitioner at Mahaska Health since 2016 and has served the healthcare field since 2003 in nursing home, hospital and clinical settings. Johannes grew up in Albia, IA and chose the medical field after spending an entire summer in a hospital helping to care for her grandmother. She provides healthcare for all ages, from 6 months to elderly and has a team approach to medicine with a desire to develop a health care plan together with the patient. Tonya has a special interest in helping those with diabetes, skin issues, travel medicine, and taking care of entire growing families. She has always been motivated to obtain the highest level of information and education for her patients benefit, receiving her CNA, LPN and RN from Indian Hills Community College, Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Iowa State and Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from Maryville University. Johannes completed her formal education with a Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) through the University of Iowa. Tonya and her husband have 2 children and enjoy spending time in the community and traveling, as well as weekend trips to St. Louis.
For more than 30 years, Gayle has been a caring nurse in Grinnell, Iowa. She joined Mahaska Health in November 2019 and has loved the Mahaska Health environment as she provides expert care to the community. The relationship she has with her patients is very important and patients know Gayle sees them as an individual with a health need and she wants to meet that need. Gayle was born at Mahaska Health and so were her children and she's excited to be back to faithfully serve patients here. Quilting and reading are some of her favorite hobbies. The Lake of the Ozarks is a favorite destination for Gayle's family and she has many fond memories at Lake Keomah.
Family Practice Physician Eric Miller, DO, practices full time in the MHP Medical Group. Growing up with a Pediatrician Mother and Farmer Father, Dr. Miller enjoys caring for families in a rural setting. He describes himself as more of a listener than a talker and enjoys hearing about a patient’s life experiences. In his free time, Dr. Miller enjoys the outdoors and building model trains.
Dr. Stephen Mineart has been practicing on the Mahaska Health Partnership Campus since 1987. Dr. Mineart is also an FAA Designated Senior Airman Medical Examiner.
Family Practice Physician Allan Peterson has practiced on the Mahaska Health Partnership campus since 1974. He is most interested in general healthcare and maintenance
Shawn Richmond, MD, is a Family Practice and Obstetrical Physician with the MHP Medical Group. He is well known for the care and concern he shows patients during their pregnancy and as a family grows. He treats patients of all ages, truly embodying what is means to be a physician in family practice.
Family Nurse Practitioner Kim Rutledge has more than 20 years experience in nursing. Personal growth and caring for others are two of Kim’s passion which she feels grateful to have channeled into achieving her advanced Nurse Practitioner degree. Kim chose to practice in the Medical Group: Walk-In because she knows the value and convenience a service like this provides patients.
Eva Sietsema is a Nurse Practioner in the Mahaska Health Walk-In Clinic. In her free time, Eva enjoys playing with her dogs and camping.
Tara Stout, DNP, ARNP joined Mahaska Health in December 2019 after receiving her Doctorate of Nursing Practice from Clarke University in Dubuque, Iowa. Many may know her as she spent some time at Mahaska Health during her clinical rotations with Dr. O'Brien and Tonya Johannes. Tara grew up in Sully, Iowa and lives on a farm with her husband and children in New Sharon. She's excited to stay in Mahaska County long-term with her family and build relationships with her patients. Tara has a passion to help the community in which she lives. As she provides care to families, she understands being open-minded and listening are important to finding a solution together. Tara strives to truly get to know her patients and partner with them to achieve their health goals. In her free time, she enjoys warmer weather and simply loves spending time with friends and family.
Anna joined Mahaska Health as a Nurse Practitioner in September of 2019. Anna is down to earth and, though born in Oskaloosa, spent the greater part of her childhood in Lovillia, IA. Anna brings with her more than 15 years of healthcare experience and chose to become a Nurse Practitioner as the logical next step to providing great care to the community she loves. Mahaska Health is home for Anna and she finds fulfillment working with the patient as a team to find the bridge to a solution for each unique situation. Anna began her career as an LPN with Mahaska health more than 15 years ago and has, since then, demonstrated exceptional clinical care for patients through a wide variety of ages and health concerns. Anna enjoys spending time at Lake Keomah, grilling in the back yard and reading. She considers herself light-hearted though the medical field often calls for serious conversations.
Family Nurse Practitioner Jessica Tokle decided to go into medicine because she enjoys helping patients and learning from them. Originally from Grinnell, Jessica is excited to be close to home again. During her first year of college, she discovered her passion for nursing and decided to obtain her masters in nursing. Jessica received her Family Nurse Practitioner degree from Clarkson College in 2018 and joined the Mahaska Health team shortly after.
Jessica Tokle has experience in a variety of healthcare settings and understands the importance of creating a smooth experience for all aspects of a patient’s care. To her, the most rewarding part of being a Family Nurse Practitioner is knowing that she can help patients get back to doing what they love.
When Jessica is not working with patients, she enjoys hiking outdoors with her dog and spending time with her family.
Dr. Mark Zacharjasz chose a career in family medicine due to his love of helping people and science. At Mahaska Health, Dr. Zacharjasz believes in offering his patients the best possible treatments and advice while upholding their values and autonomy. He accomplishes this by understanding each patient as a whole through the context of their life. Dr. Zacharjasz is passionate about helping patients and their families through difficult times and providing care for the entire family. His surgical and non-surgical specialty interests include biopsy of skin lesions and joint injections. Outside of the office, Dr. Zacharjasz enjoys spending time with his family, dogs and cats, hockey, oil painting (Bob Ross style), reading and watching his favorite TV shows.
