MAHASKA COUNTY – Mahaska Health is pleased to welcome Kathrine Bosch, CRNA.
Kathrine is originally from Bismark, North Dakota. Katherine joked that despite coming from a family of hairdressers, she has always wanted to be a nurse.
She graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from University of Mary in Bismark in 2011. After shadowing with a friend’s mother who was a CRNA, she decided to go back to school to become one.
She served as a Student Registered Nurse Anesthetist in the ICU at Avera McKennan Hospital and University Health Center until 2017, when she graduated with her Master of Science in Nurse Anesthesia from Mount Marty College in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She most recently worked at CHI Health Lakeside in West Omaha, Nebraska.
Kathrine says being a calming influence for patients is one of the most fulfilling parts of being a CRNA. “Before a procedure, my goal is to put patients at ease and let them know that things will go well,” she shared. “Afterwards in the recovery room when I talk to patients and they are happy and feel good, it’s very rewarding.”
Making patients feel comfortable is a top priority for Kathrine. “I strive to put their mind at ease and let them know that I am there for them. I am in the operating room the entire time: I don’t leave. My job is to keep them comfortable.”
Kathrine and her husband moved to Mahaska County after both accepting jobs in the area. They live in Oskaloosa with their dog. During free time, they enjoy being active and working out.
