Hours: Full-time; Weekend and Holiday rotation are required.
Education Requirements: Minimum of high school diploma. Preferred: Certified Phlebotomist, Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Clinical Laboratory Assistant (CLA). One (1) year experience in drawing blood specimens; or, any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
Job Requirements: Supports the laboratory by collecting and processing blood and urine specimens. Performs computer entry to accurately schedule patients and order tests. Provides patients and their families a very good experience by maintaining a positive, personal and respectful attitude. Interacts with staff and providers in a professional manner, responding to their requests promptly.
List of Duties: Collect blood specimens by venipuncture and capillary collection for diagnostic and monitoring tests. Uses correct collection methods and resources with appropriate labeling. Instructs and assists patients with collection of urine specimens. Performs CLIA “Waived” testing under the supervision of laboratory personnel. Aids in the processing of reference laboratory specimens and reports. Maintains a clean and safe work environment. Stocks work areas and orders supplies as needed. Complies with regulations for all accrediting and regulatory bodies such as : Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act (CLIA), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Joint Commission (JC), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Federal Drug Administration (FDA).
