Ed Hirl, MD, has practiced in Oskaloosa for over 33 years and has more than 40 years of medical practice experience. Growing up on a small farm near Davenport, IA, Dr. Hirl wanted to find an occupation that allowed him to find fulfillment by, “being there,” to help others live healthier lives. Whether in preventing future problems or finding remedies to current ones, Dr. Hirl takes evidence-based practices and treats each patient as an individual, not as the medical issue they are facing. Throughout his career, Dr. Hirl has an extensive resume of being there for his patients via inpatient hospital stays, outpatient and clinical visits, emergency room care, nursing homes, and delivering babies.
Dr. Hirl likes to stay active on the bike trail around Oskaloosa and annually participates in the full week of RAGBRAI. Dr. Hirl and his wife Melanie have 11 children and understand what it is like to prioritize family while also enjoying life as a physician and being available to patients.
