For Greg and Diane Gordy, gardens have always been a source of comfort and hope. During visits to Iowa City, they appreciated the vibrant gardens that welcomed patients on their way into the hospital, especially as Greg underwent cancer treatments.
Inspired to bring that same sense of welcome closer to home, Diane offered her love of gardening to Mahaska Health. In 2019, she designed and planted new landscapes at the main entrance, followed by the infusion center and other areas across campus transforming each entrance into a place of peace and beauty.
Her volunteer service has continued through the years, with every season bringing new life to the grounds. Patients and families arriving for care are greeted by flowers and greenery that brighten their day and create cheerful and encouraging welcome.

Greg shares in this commitment. In 2022, he became a member of the Mahaska Health Board of Trustees, extending the couple’s service to the community. Together, Greg and Diane continue to dedicate their time and energy to creating spaces that reflect hope, healing, and compassion from the moment patients step onto the campus.
We are so grateful for Greg and Diane’s dedication to Mahaska Health and for the care they show our community through their time and generosity.
