Benefits of Working at Mahaska Health

Health and Dental Insurance

Full-time employees are eligible for health and dental insurance with Mahaska Health contributing to part of the cost.  Part-time employees (working 25 hours or more per pay period) will pay the entire premium. Insurance is available to eligible employees the 1st of the month following their hire date.

Flexible Spending Account

This allows full and part time employees (working 25 or more hours per week) to set money aside for qualified non-reimbursable medical or dependent care expenses through pre-tax salary reduction in separate accounts.

(IPERS) Iowa Public Employees Retirement System

IPERS is a retirement savings plan that offers stability and security that members can count on. IPERS is only available to city, county and state employees. Contributions, for full and part-time employees, begin by the employee and Mahaska Health the first day of employment and result in financial security in the employee’s retirement years.

Paid Time Off

(PTO) provides employees with a bank of hours to use for time off work due to illness, holidays, vacations, etc. All full-time and part-time employees earn PTO with an increasing accrual rate based on years of service. Additional time off with pay is granted to full and part-time employees who are in need of bereavement leave or assigned to jury duty.

Tuition Assistance

Full and part-time employees are eligible for up to $1,000 per fiscal year to contribute to the cost of obtaining an advanced degree or special training in their field after six months of employment. In addition, 16 hours of CEUs are provided to all full-time, licensed staff and 12 hours to part-time licensed staff.

Employee Assistance Program

Employees and dependents residing in their home have access to free, confidential, professional services to help deal with personal life problems.

Life Insurance

Full-time employees receive Life Insurance equal to 1x their annual salary up to a maximum of $50,000 as well as $10,000 Accidental Death and Dismemberment coverage with no premium cost to the employee.  Full time employees can purchase additional individual, spousal, and dependent life insurance at group rates.

Short and Long Term Disability

Available at no cost to the full-time employee.
