Mahaska Health hosted its annual Women’s Health Night, celebrating health and wellness, an evening filled with conversation, fellowship, and inspiration at Gateway Church.
The evening began with a Health Fair featuring Mahaska Health service lines, followed by dinner and a panel discussion. Dr. Jesse Van Maanen, Surgery Medical Director, served as Master of Ceremonies and guided the evening’s discussion with Mahaska Health experts in mammography, medical imaging, oncology, obstetrics, cardiology, and family medicine.

A Night of Inspiration and Community
“Women’s Health Night is one of my favorite events of the year because it gives us the chance to connect with women in our community outside of the clinic,” said Dr. Taylar Swartz Summers, Co-Medical Director of the Mahaska Health Birthing Center & GYN. “It’s a time for us to share important health information, answer questions, and remind women that their health and well-being matter.”
Attendees enjoyed the chance to learn from Mahaska Health’s physicians and providers, ask questions, and receive free cholesterol and blood sugar checks, emphasizing the importance of preventive care and early detection.
Spotlight on Dr. Kiron Nair
This year’s program featured Kiron Nair, MD, Mahaska Health Medical Oncology Director, Medical Oncology & Hematology at the new Mahaska Heath Cancer Center. The Mahaska Health multidisciplinary cancer team is led by Dr. Nair and surgical oncologist Dr. Daniel Kollmorgen. Dr. Nair brings more than 20 years of experience in hematology and oncology, providing personalized, compassionate care for patients facing cancer diagnoses or ongoing treatment and is expanding access to advanced oncology services for our community.

Women’s Health Night highlighted the importance of connection, education, and shared commitment to women’s health throughout our community. Mahaska Health extends a heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us and to our panel of experts for sharing their time, knowledge, and dedication.
Staying on top of routine screenings is one of the most important aspects of healthy aging. Many serious conditions don’t present symptoms in their early stages, and regular screening tests can detect conditions when they’re at their most treatable.
