Mahaska Health is excited to welcome Tara Stout, DNP, ARNP as the newest provider to the primary care team. Tara joins Mahaska Health after recently receiving her Doctorate of Nursing Practice from Clarke University in Dubuque, Iowa. After graduating with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2015, Stout served as a cardiovascular nurse with Unity Point Health in Des Moines, and in 2016, completed a Critical Care Nurse Residency Program with Unity Point where she gained additional critical patient management skills.
Tara may be a familiar face to some patients, as she completed her Family Medicine and Pediatrics clinical rotations on the Mahaska Health campus.
Stout is excited to have the opportunity to practice in rural medicine, as she grew up in Sully, Iowa and now lives on a farm with her husband and children. She shared, “I want to help the community in which I live, and Mahaska Health is a wonderful place to do that!” Tara has a particular passion for preventive health of the cardiovascular system, and educating patients about their heart health and skin care. As she provides care, being open-minded and listening is important to her, “I want to hear what my patients’ needs are so we can work to find a solution together,” Tara said.
Amy Fernandez, Director of Clinics at Mahaska Health commented, “Tara joins a primary care team of excellent providers and she is no exception to that high standard. She is already busy helping Mahaska Health patients improve their health.” She added, “We are pleased she has joined our team to serve Mahaska County and the surrounding communities.”
In her free time, Tara enjoys the animals she and her husband have and loves spending time making memories with her family. Tara is now accepting new patients; call 641-672-3360 to make an appointment today.
