Mahaska Health has implemented screening questions for patients who call to schedule appointments or those who present to the Emergency Department or walk-in clinic. These questions are:

Do you have a fever and respiratory symptoms?
Did you travel to China in the 14 days before you got sick OR did you have contact with someone with possible coronavirus in the 14 days before you got sick?

If the answer to both of these questions is yes, the patient would be asked to wear a mask before entering our facility and we would assess their needs away from other patients to avoid the spread of disease.

Clinical staff at Mahaska Health have been given the latest information on the coronavirus, so they are prepared to provide the best care possible to our patients.

The risk to the general public remains low at this time. Right now influenza is a much more significant threat to Iowans. If you are sick, stay home. Cover your coughs and sneezes and wash your hands frequently with soap and water.
