Mike Lang Named Emergency Services Director
Mahaska Health is proud to introduce Mike Lang, RN, Paramedic as the Emergency Services Director.
Lang began his journey in the medical field in 2009 when he decided to go back to school to obtain a Paramedic degree. He worked full time as an EMT while finishing the Paramedic program and graduated from Indian Hills in 2011. In 2012, he joined the Mahaska Health Emergency Services team as a weekend package Paramedic in the Emergency Department. He then continued to build on his education, obtaining his Registered Nurse Degree (RN) 2016.
Lang officially began in his new role in early 2020 and has enjoyed the transition. “Stepping into this role, I’ve had so much support from administration and the Mahaska Health Director team,” he shared.
Lang’s philosophy of leadership is to leverage the strengths of his team members. “Our Emergency Services Team is experienced and they care about our patients,” he said. “Their expertise is extremely valuable, so as a leader, I always consider their suggestions when instituting new policies and procedures.”
As Emergency Services Director, Lang’s duties include overseeing the Emergency Department and Ambulance teams to ensure the best possible patient experience. His variety of experience is serving Lang well in his new role. “With experience in both ambulance and emergency department patient care, I feel well equipped to ensure all aspects of Emergency Services are integrated, allowing for seamless, high-quality patient care,” he shared.
In his free time, Lang enjoys riding his motorcycle, fishing, and spending time with his family – particularly with his granddaughter Skye. Lang has three children with his wife Donna of 32 years: Ryan, Sasha, and Brianna.
