Mahaska Health is proud to partner with the Veterans Benefits Administration and TRICARE to support Military Service Members and Veterans in Southeast Iowa having access to high-quality healthcare close to home.
Accessing healthcare can be challenging for Veterans and Military Service Members in rural areas. Long distances to medical facilities and limited specialized care options often create barriers to treatment. Mahaska Health is committed to addressing these challenges by bringing reliable, accessible care to our local heroes.

Expanding Offerings
Since partnering with the Veterans Benefits Administration in October 2023 and TRICARE in 2018, Mahaska Health has served over 100 local Military Service Members and Veterans.
The services available to Veterans include:
• Annual physical exams
• Audiology services
• Immunization
• Laboratory services
• Periodic health assessments
• Primary and preventive care
• Wellness care
• X-rays and radiology services
• Spirometry (Pulmonary Function Testing)
Additionally, Mahaska Health offers occupational medicine, cardiopulmonary services such as cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation, and respiratory therapy.
Our Commitment
As an Iowa Center of Excellence for Cardiology, Mahaska Health provides advanced cardiopulmonary treatments for conditions such as COPD, asthma, and emphysema. Veterans also have access to cardiac rehabilitation programs to manage heart disease and pulmonary rehabilitation to improve quality of life for those with respiratory challenges.
With a multidisciplinary team of community-focused providers, Mahaska Health is dedicated to supporting Military Service Members and Veterans in Southeast Iowa with the care and support they deserve.
