Drew Richmond, MD 1

Drew Richmond, MD, is a general surgeon with training in both minimally invasive and traditional surgical techniques, including robotic-assisted and laparoscopic procedures. Dr. Richmond earned his medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine and completed his general surgery residency at Iowa Methodist Medical Center, where he also completed rotations at Mahaska Health. He specializes in a wide range of surgical procedures, including hernia repair, colorectal and endoscopic procedures as well as advanced laparoscopic surgeries using the da Vinci robotic system.

Committed to compassionate, patient-centered care, Dr. Richmond prioritizes patient education, open and honest communication, and continuity of care throughout every stage of the surgical journey, from pre-operative consultation to recovery. He works closely with patients and their families to ensure they feel informed, supported, and confident in their care plan.

Originally from Oskaloosa, Dr. Richmond is proud to return home to serve the community that helped shape him. With strong personal ties to Mahaska Health, where his father, Dr. Shawn Richmond, has worked for more than 25 years, he is honored to care for patients in his hometown.

Outside of his medical practice, Dr. Richmond enjoys spending time with his family, golfing, participating in sports, and hunting.
