Jem J. Hof, MD is a board-certified Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) specialist with more than three decades of experience in electro-diagnostics (EMGs), musculoskeletal medicine, joint and spine care, and complex rehabilitation. He earned his medical degree from the University of South Dakota Sanford School of Medicine and completed his PM&R residency at the University of Missouri Hospital and Clinics. His extensive career includes leadership roles at the Sioux Falls and Des Moines VA Medical Centers, where he directed rehabilitation services for Veterans throughout the Midwest.
Dr. Hof provides outpatient evaluation and treatment for stroke recovery, spinal cord injuries, orthopedic trauma, and functional impairments. He also performs procedures such as Botox for spasticity, trigger point and joint injections, and disability assessments. He works closely with patients and families to create care plans unique to their needs.
Originally from South Dakota, Dr. Hof has served patients across Iowa, South Dakota, Minnesota, and Nebraska. Now a part of the Mahaska Health team, Dr. Hof is honored to bring expert, patient-centered rehabilitation care to the community.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Hof enjoys spending time with his family at the lake, boating, kayaking, camping, cooking (especially BBQ competitions), and cheering on his favorite sports teams.
