Nicola Preston, DO is a board-certified emergency medicine physician with extensive experience caring for patients across Iowa. Dr. Preston attended medical school at Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Des Moines, IA and completed her Emergency Medicine Residency at University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City, IA.
Throughout her career, Dr. Preston has served in a variety of clinical and leadership roles, including Emergency Department Medical Director, Emergency Medical Services Medical Director, and Trauma Medical Director. She currently serves as Medical Director of Emergency Services at Monroe County Hospital & Clinics and has worked closely with specialists at Mahaska Health to expand access to specialty care throughout southern Iowa.
Dr. Preston enjoys traveling with her husband and two children, exploring new cultures, cooking, staying active, and visiting national parks. She also enjoys returning to Hawaii to visit family. Although she grew up in Hawaii, Dr. Preston has deep ties to Iowa through her family and spent much of her childhood visiting relatives in the state, including family near Perry.
