Mahaska Health is proud to welcome Kerri Boender, RN as the new Director of Inpatient Services and Birthing Center.
Boender has over 25 years of nursing experience and has been recognized as a 100 Great Iowa Nurse Honoree. Prior to Mahaska Health, she has worked in a variety of nursing roles including a large Level I Trauma Center. Boender has worked at Mahaska Health since 2006, previously serving as a house supervisor – a role in which she supported all departments of the hospital.
Boender has served in her new position for a little over a month now, starting officially at the beginning of June. As Director of Inpatient Services and Birthing Center, she oversees both departments and leads their care teams of aides, nurses, and providers.
Boender is excited for the opportunity to lead the inpatient and birthing center teams. “We have a wonderful group of caregivers,” she shared. “I look forward to supporting them and being their advocate. I like to encourage others to work hard and help them be successful.”
Having worked in facilities of all sizes, Boender feels the community is lucky to have a local critical access hospital. “The team at Mahaska Health provides the same high-quality care you might expect from a larger facility, with the added benefit of being close to home.” Boender shared. “We have talented providers and highly qualified staff to care for the patients who come to our hospital.”
Boender grew up in Centerville, Iowa and previously owned and operated a small business – The Antique Peddler – in downtown Oskaloosa. In her free time, Boender enjoys spending time with family, especially her grandchildren, and also enjoys being outdoors, running, walking, and biking.
