MAHASKA COUNTY – Mahaska Health is excited to welcome Stephanie Ezebuiro, MD to the team as a primary care provider. Dr. Ezebuiro earned her Bachelor of Science in Public Health at the University of Maryland in College Park, Maryland and graduated from medical school at American University of Antigua in St. John’s, Antigua and Barbuda. She recently completed her family medicine residency at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines where she gained invaluable experience providing compassionate care for patients of all ages and backgrounds.
Dr. Ezebuiro has a heart for serving others, which is what led her to a life in medicine. “I truly felt called to health care and want to use my gifts and talents to create change in the world,” she shared. Her extensive background of volunteer and mission work includes serving on the medical staff of Susan B. Komen events and the Christian Medical and Dental Association’s Medical Mobile Unit in Atlanta, Georgia, serving as the Vice President for Doctors for Christ in Antigua, and serving as Co-Founder and President of Big Hearts Organization, a group dedicated to helping children who have been affected by HIV/AIDS in Africa. Additionally, she volunteered as a Patient Care Volunteer at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington D.C. and Clinical Volunteer for Costa Rica and Nicaragua Medical Missions.
For Dr. Ezebuiro, the most exciting part of providing care is the opportunity to form meaningful relationships with others and getting to hear their unique stories. “I learn so much from my patients just by listening; I enjoy discovering where they came from,” shared Ezebuiro. She wants her patients to know that when she is with them, they truly can let their guards down, as she is their health care ally. “I’m on your team, and we’re in this together. I want to see you succeed and will work you on that path to success,” said Ezebuiro. Chief Medical Officer Timothy Breon, MD, shared, “We are looking forward to watching Dr. Ezebuiro bless the Mahaska Health community, providing patient-centered, compassionate care on the primary care team.”
Outside of work, Dr. Ezebuiro loves to travel, volunteer, listen to music, and spend time with her husband and son. She has traveled the world, but her favorite place to visit is Nigeria. Dr. Ezebuiro is looking forward to getting to know you and is now accepting new patients. Call Mahaska Health at 641.672.3360 to make an appointment today.
